But when we opened the cabinet where the vent goes up in the stove we found a hole as big as a golf ball. I have looked in the attic for things such as droppings etc looked outside for things like vents coming from the roof but there is nothing. Place the stepladder under the attic access space. The bad news is once inside mice tend to reproduce quickly causing an infestation before you even knew it was happening.

Sounds like silent knock on the attic. The air vent in my room is no where near the noise and the noise is not coming from a ceiling fan. Immediately shut off the system then wait a few moments and turn it back on. We do have a tile roof and 6 year old house.

This can cause the fan to start making constant noise and in some cases even a loud squealing sound. No sign of vent damage. Climb the ladder remove the access panel and enter the attic. Remove the current worn out bearings and replace them.

Due to regular wear and tear these bearings can become worn out or lose their lubrication ability. Every morning between the hours of about 7 30 8 30 there is a persistent type of squeaking from the attic above my bed. High pitched squeals or a grinding noise from a furnace or an air conditioner could mean that a moving part is not moving the way it should and requires quick action. Wall or attic sounds.

Be sure to lubricate the bearings. If this is the main attic noise you ve been hearing it could be mice. Twice i heard noise in the attic above my bedroom.
